Beesley Fuels is looking for an experienced Depot Transport Manager to take responsibility for the safe, compliant and efficient running of our transport operation at Oldbury.

Managing a team of approximately 12 HGV drivers, you’ll oversee the day-to-day transport function, with a strong focus on transport compliance, driver standards, vehicle compliance and Operator Licence requirements.

We’re looking for an established Transport Manager with strong HGV operational and compliance experience. Previous fuel industry experience is desirable but not essential – the fuel-specific aspects of the role can be taught. The Oldbury depot forms part of a wider fuel distribution network, so you’ll have ownership of the local transport operation with support and expertise available from the wider business.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the day-to-day transport operation and HGV driver team.

• Ensure compliance with Operator Licence requirements, Drivers’ Hours, Working Time and relevant transport legislation.

• Manage vehicle maintenance, inspections, defects and compliance records.

• Maintain accurate, audit-ready transport documentation.

• Monitor driver performance, infringements, standards and training requirements.

• Plan and coordinate deliveries, vehicles and driver resources.

• Monitor operational performance, costs and service levels.

• Investigate incidents and operational issues and implement corrective actions.

• Maintain high standards of health, safety and environmental compliance.

What We’re Looking For

• Transport Manager CPC – essential.

• Proven experience as a Transport Manager within an HGV transport or distribution operation.

• Strong knowledge of Operator Licensing and transport compliance.

• Good working knowledge of Drivers’ Hours and Working Time regulations.

• Experience managing HGV drivers, vehicle compliance and maintenance requirements.

• Strong organisational, problem-solving and people management skills.

• A practical, hands-on approach with the confidence to take responsibility for the depot transport function.

• Good IT skills and experience with transport or fleet management systems.

Desirable – Not Essential

• Previous fuel distribution experience or knowledge.

• HGV Class 2 (Category C) licence.

• ADR qualification, ideally including Tanks.

• Experience within tankers, hazardous goods, chemicals or another regulated transport environment.

Hours: 45 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with occasional weekend or out-of-hours support where required.
